About Cheryl
Hi, I'm Cheryl Sadigh, MS, OTR/L — a New York State–licensed pediatric occupational therapist and the founder of PlayGrow OT.
I earned my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical School, where I trained in pediatric development and sensory integration. After graduating, I became licensed as an Occupational Therapist, Registered and Licensed (OTR/L) in New York State, and I've spent my career working with children and families across Long Island — from toddlers taking their first steps toward independence to teenagers navigating the demands of school and social life.
Over years of clinical work in homes, schools, and community settings, I worked with children facing sensory processing differences, fine motor delays, feeding challenges, and the everyday struggles that make childhood harder than it needs to be. I saw the difference it made when therapy followed a child's interests instead of fighting them, and when parents were treated as partners rather than bystanders.
That's why I founded PlayGrow OT. I wanted to build a practice where therapy doesn't feel like therapy — where children walk in excited and leave a little braver, and where parents walk out knowing exactly what we worked on and what to try at home. I believe play is how children learn, and it's where they're brave enough to try hard things. I also believe no one knows your child better than you do, so you'll always be part of the plan.
Today, I work with children ages 18 months to 18 years across Nassau County, Long Island, bringing therapy into the spaces where real life happens — your living room, your kitchen table, your child's everyday routines.
My Approach

Play-Based
Play is how children learn — and where they're brave enough to try hard things. Every session is built around your child's interests, so the work that builds skills feels like fun, not a chore.
Family-Centered
Parents aren't spectators. You know your child better than anyone, so you'll always be part of the plan. You'll leave every session knowing exactly what we worked on and what to try at home.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
There's no one "right" way to move through the world. I celebrate your child's unique wiring, build on their strengths, and never try to make an autistic or sensory-different kid mask as someone they're not.

I bring the same curiosity to the families I work with: every child is a new mystery worth solving, and there's nothing better than watching a kid discover they can do the thing that used to feel impossible.
